"If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you. This is the principal difference between a dog and a man."

Shelter Outreach Volunteers
One of our main goals is to assist local county animal shelters with care and placement of their exotic pets. If your local shelter has an exotic animal, you can help! Contact the shelter about volunteering to help provide care. You will have to go through whatever volunteer training and abide by whatever guidelines that shelter requires, and then you can help the shelter to provide correct housing, food, and care for the animal while it is the shelter. ACR&S will be happy to assist the shelter by advertising the pet, providing care sheets to be distributed to potential adoptors, and by providing correct food and cages if available.
Fostering
We don't have a central facility; all of our pets are kept in foster homes. Therefore there's not much opportunity for volunteers to provide actual animal care. However, if you are experienced with these animals, and have a little room in your home and in your heart, you may be able to foster an animal for us. Check out our Fostering page to learn more about this unique opportunity.
Other Help
We always need help with fundraising and advertising. Some of our current activities include hanging flyers at vet clinics and organic grocery stores, building and placing donation boxes, and staffing educational booths at local events.
